A full century has passed since the end of the “Great War” or “The war to end all wars.”
Next year will be one hundred and one. The year after that one hundred and two. And still the ongoing conflicts across the globe will give people plenty of new names to remember as they grieve for their lost loved ones.
The world isn’t perfect, and thankfully the meat grinder of WWI and WWI part 2 (aka WWII) has been largely replaced by lower casualty count “proxy wars” for political reasons. But still, even now we see Russia nibbling away at neighbors, creating the “living space” to consolidate Russian speaking peoples under Moscow’s rule…
War will be with us, don’t regret that we haven’t learned anything, because we have. Regret that learning those lessons was necessary in the first place.
